Pebble Beach Golf Links (PBGL) officially opened for play on February 22, 1919 and has hosted many prestigious championships over the years including several California Open Championships. The Fownes Foundation, in conjunction with the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove, granted funds to PBGL to acquire this medallion won by John Black in 1919. PBGL displays the medallion in its Tap Room, which was originally established in 1949 as the "Museum of Western Golf." PBGL was designed by amateurs, Douglas Grant and Jack Neville, who ironically played in this championship as noted on the plaque.
