Bucknell Golf Club (BGC), founded in 1930, is located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and owned by Bucknell University. It is known to be one of the oldest university golf courses in the United States. The original 9 hole course was designed by Emil Loeffler, who worked closely with Henry and William Fownes as the Superintendent of Oakmont Country Club, another historical golf landmark. BGC continues to uphold its responsibility to enhance and improve the classic design of the course that Loeffler built many years ago. The Fownes Foundation, in conjunction with the Union County Historical Society, donated funds to BGC to construct a Church Pew bunker between holes 14 and 15. This bunker is a visible reminder of the historical connection between BGC and Oakmont Country Club and ties directly to Loeffler's original course design.
